[transferred to Customer Support] Can I transfer the activation of my 2007a student version to my new laptop?

[Per the suggestion in the answer, I have submitted a support request with my question. Thanks!]
Early in my grad school career, I bought a copy of Matlab (2007a student version, as mentioned in the question field, with Simulink, Control System Toolbox, Signal Processing Toolbox, Signal Processing Blockset, Statistics Toolbox, Optimization Toolbox, Image Processing Toolbox, and Symbolic math functions - the default) and installed it on the MacBook I was using as my primary computer at the time. Subsequent to this, I accidentally dropped the MacBook, and, as the damage from that accident spread with continued use to the point of rendering the laptop nearly unusable, I opted to purchase a new Windows 7 computer - an HP ProBook 4525s.
Earlier this week, I tried to install Matlab from the install DVD, and succeeded ... up until the point where it required online activation. I typed in the serial number from the DVD case, and it told me that the serial number was invalid. (If the exact wording of the error message is required, I can attempt the install again.) I have subsequently checked on the "My MathWorks Account" page, and it says, "You currently have no MATLAB & Simulink Student Version licenses."
Looking through the documentation, I can see that there is a procedure to carry out when you wish to deactivate a Matlab installation. The MacBook, while in catastrophically poor shape, is still functional enough to allow me to carry out this procedure ... but it is also functional enough that I would not want to do so if doing so would not let me install Matlab on my new box. (In theory, I could set the MacBook up with an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse and use it as if it were a desktop with very few USB ports.)
So that's my question: can I deactivate the version installed on my MacBook and then install it on my HP ProBook?
