How to use the outcomes of the fitting tool?

Being new to Matlab ANN, I'm using it to predict 2 faults of a material based on 9 of its properties. My tests have given up 47 samples now, i.e. my input matrix is 9x47 and the output matrix is 2x47.

I used the wizard which is quite helpful. The outcomes of training (nntraintool) are now ready.

However, I don't understand them although I've read a book on ANN. How should I explain "Performance" for instance? I understand regression results but I don't get what "Training State" says.

Would you please give even a short explanation as a starter for me?

Or could you recommend an easy-to-read reference please?

How do these information help to find out the ability of ANN in predicting my material faults?
