Editor problem R2010b - Mac os x

Hi,
I recently upgraded my MATLAB from R2009a to R2010b. In R2010b I am having trouble opening the MATLAB editor. I cannot create a new file, nor open an existing *.m file. I have no problem running existing *.m files, so it seems like it is only the editor that is not working. Is there a solution to this problem? I am using Mac os x, version 10.5.8.
