how quantization works to embedd watermark into image

hello..i would like to know how quantization works to embedd watermark into image..and i would like to know which quantization techniques is the simplest and easiest to be implement..i have read about quantization index modulation..this method also can be used to embedd watermark..but the problem is i cant understand how it works..and i dont know the formula used to embedd watermark..hope u can help me.. thanks
