Colormap range of mesh (sub)plots distorts/shifts when pasting figure into Powerpoint.

I have four subplots of mesh data, using automatic color ranging independently for each. I adjust the view of each to be seen directly from above. When viewed from within the Matlab figure window (dedicated figure windows, or within plotbrowser, either way), I see exactly what I expect. But when I copy and paste this figure (as a bitmap, or as any other type) into Powerpoint, the colormap range changes within all four subplots, which alters the meaning of the data presented. What is happening, and how can I preserve the colormap(s) when pasting into Powerpoint?
Thanks.
Warren

maybe cut & paste is embedding a matlab figure in your presentation. try export_fig from the file exchange http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/23629-exportfig
