How to increase memory of MATLAB in a Win XP SP3 system.

1 view (last 30 days)
Hi, I am using Matlab R2010b on a Windows XP SP3 machine with 4GB ram and Intel Xeon processor. I need to run a simulation for 20 seconds and it requires logging of multiple data variables extensively. The sample time at which i am logging data is 5 micro seconds. My MATLAB crashes whenever i try plotting and editing the data files. The out of memory error occurs when i save data to work space. I have bypassed it by saving the variables as .mat files to HDD. But for further analysis i need to load it back to work space and plot. My MATLAB crashes when i start editing the .fig files created with that data. Sometimes it crashes even when plotting. Please advice on how to overcome this issue. If it is due to lack of memory, how can i overcome it? Please advice on how to increase the memory also.
Thanks in advance
JK

Hi Walter, I am using a 32 bit version of XP and I don't think that my PC has been configured with the /3GB switch. Is there any other alternative other than editing the boot.ini file because I would like to use that as the last resort.
