Matlab APP Version and Icon Issues

I have a standalone application that I create and works great when I compile it with Matlab 2013a. I recently upgraded to Matlab 2014a and much to my dismay found that the APP interface has substantially changed, and as far as I can tell does not appear to function properly. Below are the following issues I'm having.
I am working on a MAC running OSX 10.9.2
1. The documentation states I should be able to have a series of four numbers separated by periods as my APP's version number ( see the third bullet under 3 ). When I try to enter a version of 1.0.1 the program complains that it much be in the form of a major.minor version, essentially limiting me to two numbers instead of the four as advertised.
2. Even when I settle for the fact that I can only have major.minor version numbering and set it as 1.1 when I package the APP and open it I find that the version number given when I select About my_app from the menu is 1, not 1.1.
3. I clicked on the default icon next to my APP's name under the Application Information section and selected the image I want, however whenever I package the APP I get the same default image, not to mention that I never see other options that I'm led to believe should be there by the Matlab 2013b release notes (see GUI Building > Custom Icons for MATLAB apps you create).
