How would i reduce MATLAB CPU usage on my core duo windows XP pc?.
Everytime, i start MATLAB (R2011a) it uses 100% of CPU all time. So i could not run any other applications on my PC and the PC is also running slow because of this.
Thanks in advance for the reply.

Thanks everyone for the answer. It was actually a malware detection program called "malwarebytes" was slowing down MATLAB. MATLAB is now running much faster after i removed the above program from the PC.

Wow! You give me caution that I'd better not to install the latest and greatest MATLAB on my old laptop! Are you running any code, or just try to start the MATLAB software? If latter, then probably there is nothing you can do. Hate to say, but probably your pc is outdated. Either get a new pc or try to use some old version of MATLAB.

I would contact support; this should not happen.

I use a Core 2 Duo laptop every day, and have run several versions of MATLAB on it. I've used it with Windows XP and now Windows 7. I would second Ken's comment, that there is something wrong with the individual machine itself or the install is somehow corrupt.

If you have a network license and are behind a firewall, MATLAB sometimes gets confused.
