When I run the setup.exe for MATLAB, there is just the message: 'Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 redistributable (x64)' and then nothing happens. Why is MATLAB not installing? Thanks.

You can get redistributables yourself and install them. Maybe then the MATLAB installer won't try. For example, go here http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29 Type in whatever year you think you need, 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, etc.
