Can you use break points to debug code that is not a function? I just want to see how a block of code that I wrote is behaving, even though the block is not a function file. If so, how do I use break points to do this?

With R2013a it's simple, just set a breakpoint and click [Run]. On the other hand I would have answered: add the line
function dummy()
at the to of the file. That's the way I used to do it.
