How can I resolve gui issues under Debian/Linux? ( unable to open menus nor use buttons on graphics)

Hello,
I'm having issues with the gui especially when trying to use any menus or buttons. The worst is with graphs/plots where, most of the time, if I try to interact with the figure window matlab reacts as if I clicked to main window, hiding the figure. This makes working with figures quite excruciating.
Searching through former questions yields no pertinent answers so I am at a loss as what to do.
I know that Matlab is optimal on Windows, but that is not an option for me.
Thank you in advance

Can you attach some simplified reproduction code here? Information about the version of OS you are using along with the version of MATLAB, screenshots of the issue, and a more detailed explanation of your workflow could could help too.

I have the same problem.
1) Open matlab
2) Plot something > can interact with the figure
3) Close the figure window
4) Plot again > cannot interact with the buttons of the figure window.
If I click on the window the matlab main window is activated. The figure window appear to be transparent to the mouse pointer.
Matlab version: R2014b.
I'm running Manjaro Linux with Kernel 3.17.4 and graphical drivers xf86-video-intel. Multi monitor setup through a Dell docking station. Notebook Dell E7440.
