Matlab figures not exporting properly in 2014b

Hi,

I have recently upgraded to Matlab 2014b. I am running OSX Yosemite. When I export figures as EPS (or PDF) they have a criss-cross triangular pattern superimposed on the image. In addition the axis label fonts are changed and label formatting (e.g. bold/italic) is removed. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Does a figure as simple as this exhibit the problem for you?

print('-dpdf','magic.pdf')

I am also using 2014b on Yosemite, and I have no problem with that figure.

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me. The very simple line version of your plot does indeed work fine. Although I suspect the issue is just not noticeable. If however I try the equivalent as a contour plot.... something like:

figure

contourf(magic(3))

print('-dpdf','magic.pdf')

Then the problem becomes apparent again. I have tried removing anti-aliasing but this doesn't seem to help the problem.

In addition if I export the figure as a bitmap it displays fine however I really need an eps vector graphic.

Yes, I get the same thing. Very subtle white triangles.

I suggest submitting a bug report. (FYI, I have no problem with PNG, if that helps you.)
