When installing through the Mathworks installer, I cant log in when selecting the installation method. I get an error: ´The application could not connect to MathWorks. For more information on resolving this issue see this Support Article`
I´ve read the supporting article, and allowed connection over ports 80 and 443 in firewall. I have even disabled firewall and my antivirus, but I still get the same error when trying again.

How did you solve this problem?

For some reason, this started happening again with us in early 2020. It wasn't happening before. So maybe it's the CoVid-19 or maybe our computer security people changed something. We tried for hours with the Mathworks tech support and our IT security people and the only way we could get it to work was to have my MATLAB license administrator (in my company) download the whole gigantic MATLAB installation - all 20 GB with ALL toolboxes in it - to a local drive and then I had to run the setup that way. I also needed to go to my account to download my license file (click "Get License File") since the installer will ask for it. We still haven't figured out what is preventing it, even after going through the support article
Firewall
You will need to contact your IT Help Desk if your organization is running a network firewall to configure it to bypass blocked connections to the MathWorks servers.
The MathWorks installer needs to contact MathWorks servers on the following ports and addresses:
  • login.mathworks.com
  • services.mathworks.com
  • TCP ports 80 and 443
Your firewall needs to bypass blocked connections for both addresses over both ports. These servers do not use a Static IP Address and will resolve to a Dynamic IP Address. This means that users will not be able to white-list MathWorks servers via IP Address and will have to use the domain name.
If the MathWorks installer is still unable to connect after troubleshooting your proxy and firewall, submit a service request using the link below. Please include the troubleshooting steps you took to resolve the connection issue, and include your installation log file. See this related article if you need assistance locating your log file:

We can't help with the Mathworks web servers. Did you call them? That should be what you do next if you have not already. They give free installation help for all versions, even student versions.
