We have both server and standalone versions of Matlab licenses. I have someone who currently is using the server license and a number of toolboxes. He now wants to use the Partial Differential Equations toolbox which we don't have as part of our server license. We do however have a PDE toolbox on our standalone licensing agreement. If I was to set him up a standalone license is there any way he can install this on his machine 'in parallel' with the server version so that when he runs Matlab he has access to both the existing toolboxes on the server version and also the PDE toolbox on the standalone version?

I believe this would be doable, but do not get what the point is. As the individual license where the PDE Tbx is, this also has MATLAB. So you would give this user MATLAB plus PDE.
If your question then is whether this user can access also other products, not being part of the individual license, but only part of the network concurrent license: Yes. I believe there is a also a description of how to do this here on MATLAB Answers.

That is exactly the reason I want to be able to do it. He needs to access about 3 or 4 other toolboxes on the concurrent license but also the PDE toolbox that we only have purchased on our standalone licenses.
