Consider the two modulation schemes BPSK and 8-PSK. BPSK mapping is done such that 1 is mapped to +d and 0 is mapped to –d. The Gray-Coded constellation for 8-PSK is shown in Figure 3. For both schemes, it is left for you to relate the parameter d to the average bit energy Eb which is preferred to be normalized. Also, you have to modify the block diagram shown in Figure 1 in order to support the one dimensional technique (i.e BPSK).
i. Simulate each system individually using MATLAB. Skip the encoder and the decoder in this case to obtain the uncoded performance. Sketch the theoretical and simulated uncoded Bit Error Rates (BERs) against Eb/Eo for the both systems on the same graph and compare the results.
ii. Repeat part (ii) when coding is involved. In this case, sketch the simulated coding performance against the theoretical uncoded performance and find the coding gain at 10^-5
