Will I be able to use MatLab 2011a Student in Yosemite?

I am a student, and I have Matlab 2011a working on my Macbook Pro using Mavericks. When Yosemite first came out, I upgraded to it, but my MatLab would not run so I restored back to Mavericks. I have read that some people have been able to get 2011a to work in Yosemite. Has this issue been fixed? I would like to be able to update my laptop. Can I run 2011a Student in Yosemite, given I have the proper Java and x11? Please do not tell me to buy a newer version, I am a graduate student and I cannot afford it.
