I want to plot my data in such a way that one variable is represented by color intensity, Is there any way to do it?

On x axis i have 1000 candidates and on Y axis color represents how may connections that candidate has in network, Different strips are representing different types of connections. so first i want to plot corresponding to one tie, then i want to stack for other ties. i have data in excel that has number fo connections corresponding to different candidates.
