Can Matlab 2014b use the OpenGL core profile on a Macbook?

There are a number of queries relating to graphics issues on mac computers. I think this is because Matlab automatically uses the Legacy profile of OpenGl. For this profile the OpenGl version is much lower (2.1 for my system), while for the core profile the version is 4.1, which should enable line smoothing etc. I was wondering if it is possible to run Matlab with the OpenGl core profile instead of the Legacy profile.
Thanks in advance
My system: MacBookPro 11,1 OpenGl version: 4.1 Intel-10.0.86. But executing >>opengl info gives; Version: '2.1 INTEL-10.0.86', which corresponds to the compatibility profile.
