How can I apply a digital filter on streaming video

Hi,

I'm trying to write a matlab function which applies a digital lowpass filter on a video while it's streaming. I know how to generate the filter but my problem is how to make the code to understand each time the function takes the input it is part of a time series data. Anyone has any idea how can I write such a code.
