Why do I get the error "Error Starting Desktop" when trying to open Matlab for the first time using the 64bit R2014a on a Mac?

I have checked my version of Java and I have the following version: 1.8.0_31

Can you upload a screenshot of the error, or even your whole desktop at the time?

Your version of Java would not matter since MATLAB bundles its own.
