Is Pitch Period and Pitch Period Contour different?

Hey guys, I'm new to DSP and I'm trying to develop a Speech Synthesis system. It would be nice if you guys can help me out. I have a few questions to ask. 1.) What is the difference between Pitch Period Contour and Pitch Period? 2.) Calculation of Pitch Period Contour returns a vector. What do these values mean/represent?
