Help with the speech recognition in Matlab

My project is as follow:

1. Using Matlab (or other program), an audio card (or Arduino) and a microphone are asked to record, process, filter for the frequency spectrum of the vowels / a /, / e /, / i /, / o / and / u / with the ff requirements:

• Save to File extension .wav character /? /. ? = a, e, ...., or • Displays the baseband signal • Displays the filtered signal • Displays the Fourier spectrum • Set the frequency of the first formant (fo)

2. Indicate screen (or an LED) which is pronounced character vocally (this allows for example operate disabled chair forward) • What distinguishes the different vowels from the point of view of their sound. With a hit rate over 90%.
