hello to all im trying to compare two (grayscale) patterns and to tell if they are somewhat alike. i read that likeness measure can be done by comparing the 2d-fft of the two images. if it’s true, can someone tell me how to do the transformation and how do you think is good to compare the two? thanks A LOT !
Noam.

What are you dealing with? If you're dealing with translation/rotation/scaling, FFT solutions are the way to go. If you just want a simple comparison you could use either the normalized cross correlation or the sum of the absolute differences...

thank you for your answer.
im not dealing with simple comparison. im trying find a way of saying if pattern A look-alike pattern B. for example: is a checkerboard pattern can be camouflaged in a stripes pattern (or vice versa).
