How do I read words from excel and then display them one by one on MATLAB?

Hi,

I am trying to write code for an experiment which displays words from word lists on excel one by one for 2 seconds so that participants can read the words and try to memorise them, and then later on present the words again and ask participants to use one key to state if they have seen the word before and another to state that they haven't. What function do I use to do this?
