Matching images from database to snapshot taken from a webcam

hi, I am currently working in MATLAB on the topic-Hand Gesture Recognition. My question is how do i match the images from the database to ont taken by the video snapshot. for eg- if the snapshot is equal to the 3rd image then my output is 3 or if to 4th then 4 and so on.
