Serial Terminators

With the Matlab serial communication function, is it possible to set the terminator to both LF and CR, in the event the serial stream uses one or the other, or both?
The reason I ask is the device I communicate with uses both. When I write the data to file it may be corrupting it (out of sequence) at times if it doesn't recognize both.
