How to verify that the correct Excel file is being imported to Excel?

I am using the 'xlsread' function to upload an Excel file to Matlab. In the cell A1,B1 there is patient information, example- "Bloggs","Joe","123","M","1/1/09","4. This information will be the same sequence irreverent of file. Though actual patient name, DOB, will change. I want Matlab to read this cell and confirm that it is the right sequence. Is there a way to to this?
Any advice would be very appreciated :)
