[HELP] Why is Matlab stuck in the splash screen?

5 views (last 30 days)
I had been using Matlab 2014a and everything's fine. However, several days ago when I tried to start Matlab, it got stuck in the splash screen. I didn't know what's going on. I uninstalled the 2014a and installed the 2015a version yesterday. But the 2015a version still has the same problem.
This is the splash screen:
and this is the Task Manager window when getting stuck(the CPU, RAM and disk are being used):
I had waited for a few minutes, but in the end my computer crushed and I had to restart it by pressing the power button.

I would let it go longer. For one thing 4 GB for a 64 bit computer is way way underpowered. I have a 64 bit Windows 7 computer with 32 GB of RAM and after I have started just Firefox and MATLAB, already 5 GB was used up. Most people I know have at least 16 GB with their 64 bit computer.
Anyway, every once in a while, like if I try to start MATLAB within a few minutes of seeing the Windows desktop, it can take a long time to launch. I've waited 9 or 10 minutes before. When I type control-shift-Escape I see that MATLAB is using hardly any CPU time, like less than 5%, not 49.2% like you. So I guess I'd let it go around 15 minutes and if it still doesn't launch after that, then call the Mathworks.
