Dear Sir or Madame,
until now I have used Matlab R2008a (group license) under Windows 7 and other group members use it under Linux.
Now I have a new Mac Book Pro running under Yosemite and I want to install R2008a. However, the download-manager fails to start. What can I do?
With kind regards,
Prof. Martin Nawrot

R2008a for Mac was a 32 bit product for the Intel family (at least it was after PowerPc) that ran on OS-X 10.4 and 10.5.
I find a user community statement that Yosemite does not support 32 bit binaries; that sounds plausible.
R2008a for Mac requires X11, which is no longer supplied by Apple but you could try installing XQuartz.
You would also have to find an old version of JRE, jre 1.5.0 Release 4. jre 1.5.0 is the same as J2RE 5.0, but it appears you cannot download a release that old from java.com . Java 7 and Java 8 are not going to work.
I do not think you are going to be able to do this on Yosemite.
