MATLAB was unable to reconnect to the license server and is exiting

hi all,
I just installed MATLAB and persistently after 5-10 minutes, a box with the message "MATLAB was unable to reconnect to the license server and is exiting" appears, and the programme shuts down. Customer service automated system has kept me for over an hour on the phone, still no one available. Any hints from anyone? I am using a MAC Pro, latest version.
