Here is a full picture of the carpet plot in an isometric view.
My carpet plot interpolation returns with 'bumps' that are not in the original data.

I have used Interp2, TriScatteredData, griddata to all seemingly successfully plot a carpet plot of a sparse, scattered set of data (MATLAB 2012b). However, the resulting plot contains 'bumps' that aren't in the original data. They seemingly come out of nowhere. I have attached a side-view of the plot to demonstrate the bumpiness that I am seeing and a cross-sectional plot of the interpolated data against the original (more smooth) data.
