Defining a custom signal class in Simulink and actually using it.

Dear Matlabbers,

maybe I am missing something, but I was wondering whether it is possible to define my own class of signals for use in Simulink. It would be most convenient if operators like plus, minus, etc. are overloaded and standard Simulink blocks would still work.

I would like to know 1. whether it is possible, 2. how exactly it can be done.

I have been looking into defining my own package with a Simulink.Signal class in it. Any hint on whether that is moving in the right direction?
