Counter for similar detected object. Image processing

How to or is there a counter for similar detected object for detectSURFFeature or other feature detector for image processing? I have a code that can detect objects but it can only detect 1 object of the same kind. help me to count the number of similar object in the same image.

example. In the image I have 5 similar cans, i need to detect all 5 cans and declare that there are 5 cans. but what was happening is that i can only detect 1 can. Please help me. thank you
