When a rectangular array is designed using Arbitrary array geometry, it does not give beam pattern as rectangular array using direct option in phased array system toolbox, sensor Array Analyzer

In phased array toolbox, using Sensor Array Analyzer APP, with the option arbitrary array geometry, I have created a 6 by 6 rectangular array with lambda/2 spacing. I have defined x,y,z coordinates of each element location. When I make x-axis as zeros(since the array is essentially 2-d, one axis will be zeros) , the pattern matches with rectangular array option of the toolbox. If the same array with the same inter-element spacing is arranged such that z-axis is zeros, beam width is much less, grating lobes dont appear when tilted. Am I doing something wrong or is this physics?

Did you define the normal direction too? When you make z axis 0, I assume you want all elements to point to z direction? if so, you need to set the normal direction to [90;0]. Could you share your configurations? Thanks.
