Why does my Matlab keep activating then doing nothing?

My copy of Matlab prompts me to activate the software, then once the activation is complete I close the window and open Matlab, only to be directed to the same activation process I had just successfully completed!

I have the same problem. Still trying to find the answer. It is shame that the MathWorks Support has not answered this question yet.

When you called them what did they say? Did they say they'd research it and get back to you? That's what they tell me every time I call them with an question that they can't answer immediately. If you haven't called them, then do so tomorrow. They, not us, are the ones best equipped to answer installation, licensing, and activation questions. And they'll even do it for FREE over the phone, even for student licenses. That's too good a deal to not take advantage of it.

I am not certain, but I think I saw a posting in which someone said that activating as administrator solved this problem for them.
