When I move mouse over some element, Matlab displays only empty rectangle instead of hint. Also when I'm writing some function and use tab-completion, the menu is at the wrong place. Is there something I can do to fix it? For example install different version of Java?

What operating system are you using? What release of MATLAB are you running?

I can tell from the directory name that it is Linux. I cannot tell which version, though.

Thank you! :-) I have Fedora with GNOME, so I switched off GNOME and started Xfce instead and it works.
But I still wonder why it doesn't work. I think that majority of Linux users use Gnome/Unity so it cannot be problem just in the desktop environment.
