Unable to install Matlab 2015a on Linux - Ubuntu

Hi.

I am trying to do a silent installation.

I have extracted the Matlab .iso and the install file is definitely executable.

(source folder)/sys/java/jre/glnxa64/jre/bin/java is also executable.

However, when I run: sudo ./install -tmpdir /tmp -inputfile /opt/src/matlab/installer_input.txt

I get: Preparing installation files ... Installing ... Finished

From "Preparing installation files...." to "Finished" takes about 1 second and Matlab is not installed!

Any help/advice much appreciated.

Hello Steve,

I understand that you are trying to install MATLAB silently on Ubuntu, but the install is not actually occurring. Could you attach your installer_input.txt file (with personal information "asterisked-out")? It would be helpful to make sure there aren't any issues in the installation options that could be causing this.

Some of those issues are listed on this Answers post. Check to make sure the installation follows these guidelines. You may also wish to set up silent activation to occur at the same time, though I can understand wanting to make sure the installer works first.

I have the same problem, I attached the installer_input.txt with my personal informations but nothing changes. The Mathworks window appears for 1 or 2 second then it disappears and "Finished". No significant info in the logs. Thanks for any help.

Thanks Walter for your reply! Could you tell me more about how to properly attach the file? I execute this command: install -inputFile installer_input-mod.txt What did I do wrong? I delete from installer_input-mod.txt the Windows only options. Thanks. Filippo

Click on the paperclip and in what comes up, click on Choose File and use the facilities that pop up to select a file. Once you have selected the file, the Attach File button will become enabled; click on that to send the selected file to Mathworks.
