Need to activate new Matlab 2012 by deactivating old, but on same computer

I recently had to factory reset my laptop that contained Matlab 2012. Upon trying to reinstall the program on the same laptop that I had the program previously, it says that I have to deactivate the old one. I'm wondering how exactly that would be done given the fact that I have only had Matlab on my one laptop that has been factory reset twice since I bought Matlab 3 years ago.

Log in to the Mathworks account that the license is associated with, and go to the "License Center" in the Support area. You should be able to manage the license there. If you can't figure it out, I suggest contact support. I am sure they deal with this all the time.
