I am clueless about how to write fitness function on genetic algorithm for non linear transcedental equations in selective harmonic elimination of multilevel inverter.? can anyone help me?

the equations to be solved are:
m = 1/3 {cosx1 + cos x2 +cosx3}; 0 = cos 5x1 + cos 5x2 + cos 5x3; 0 = cos 7x1 + cos 7x2 + cos 7x3;

Is there some reason why you think you need a genetic algorithm for this? For example, solve does it nicely.
I would suggest you first learn how to write something in MATLAB, as it appears you lack knowledge of basic MATLAB syntax. Then try solving something simple using the symbolic toolbox. Then try solving this problem, which is not that difficult to solve.
