Can I install matlab in windows as well as linux with same license?

I tried to install on linux ubuntu machine, i got license error.I had already activated license for windows OS. can i use matlab in linux too?

Contact the Mathworks with all licensing questions. It may or may not have to do with it being on different operating systems. They would know. We're just volunteer end-users here, with no knowledge of the restrictions of your specific license.

Student Version and Home Licenses may (at least in R2014a) be activated only on one machine, but the machine may be set to dual-boot or use virtual operating systems. However, the hardware that is licensed against on MS Windows is different than the hardware that is licensed against on OS-X or Linux (on the same machine, that is), so you might need some assistance from Mathworks to get a dual boot to work.
