Do I need to install Matlab on root directory or user level access will be sufficient?

I need to install Matlab on a server, but I am going to be the only one using it. I was wondering if it is possible to install it on my user directory rather than on root, so that I can use student license, and also avoid bothering server administrator.
Thanks

If you are using OS-X or Linux, then Yes you can do it (though it might be a bit tricky at times). If you are using MS-Windows then it needs to register various parts of itself in the registry to work, and registry changes need administrator access, so I don't think it can be done.
