Help using matlab.wsd​l.createWS​DLClient

I get the following error when using the matlab.wsdl.createWSDLClient function:
Error using matlab.wsdl.createWSDLClient (line 161) Cannot access WSDL at [valid address] The file name contains characters that are not contained in the filesystem encoding. Certain operations may not work as expected.
I am able to access and parse my wsdl using suds-jurko in python, and using WebServiceStudio. The wsdl was generated using gSOAP. I'm using version r2015b.
