My license number and activation key

I have a Mathworks account. All I want is having a license number and activation key. I have spent too much time to track what I want but in vain. There might be something that I might be unaware of.

• How, to associate my already existing account to a license, I need to provide either an activation number or a license number while I still have none of those in the first place?
• Is it a matter of subscribing first and paying the fees required before I can have a license?
• What Matlab prompt that I need to type 'ver' at to get a license number?
• Why can't your support service, very thankfully, send me, on my e-mail, the required information that would save me the infinite loop I am revolving in?

You can apply through the links for a Trial license. If they agree to grant you one then they will send you email with the download link and the activation key. Trial licenses require evidence that you are likely to purchase.

If they do not grant you a Trial license or at the end of the license or if you know already you want to purchase, then you need to go through the sales mechanisms to purchase a license. When the license is created then they will email you with a download link and the activation key, and they will associate the activation key with your account.

Exceptions:

• if you work for an organization you probably need to go through a Purchasing procedure to obtain MATLAB, and the key would be provided to the organization technical support contact and the asset manager
• in some cases, student licenses are managed by the university and there is an institution-specific process to go through

There are no free versions of MATLAB.
