how to equalize two partitions of a histogram of an image?

i am trying to implement "Dualistic Sub-Image Histogram Equalisation". where the input image is decomposed into two equal area sub-images based on its gray level probability density function and cumulative distribution function the two partions of the image histogram are equalized . any suggestion would help me
