Why does moving figures between an Apple Retina display and another display reduce graphical detail on MATLAB R2015b?

2 views (last 30 days)
On some multiple-monitor Macintosh systems, graphical quality might decrease when you move figures between displays:
  1. If you create graphics on an Apple Retina display, and move the figure to another type of display, some of the graphical detail is lost. You might also notice missing lines or other subsampling artifacts.
  2. If you create graphics on a display that is not an Apple Retina display, the graphics look blurry when you move them to an Apple Retina display.
What is causing this, and are there any workarounds?

This is a bug because of which MATLAB does not adequately handle the change in resolution when a figure is dragged between a retina and a non retina display. There is a bug report for this issue, which also has a patch included.
