How can I transform my displacement vector to local coordinates?

I am working a finite element model. I am assembling the element matrix for mass, stiffness and transform them to global coordinate. I would like to know if I can assemble one "global transformation matrix", and then after having assembled the global mass for instance transform it to global coordinate using this global transformation matrix
