Using Matlab offline on linux

I'm trying to use MATLAB offline on Debian, but when I start it from the console I always get the activation window. I found a file .lic which seems to be the right license, in fact when I enter its full path I get "activation complete" but Matlab doesn't start. What should I do? Ps. Matlab has always worked on my laptop when it was connected to the internet.
