How to calculate filter impulse response using matlab?

can I get the value of h[n] using matlab? I just want to optimize the error G(w)[Hd(w)-Hi(w)]. For Hi(w) calculation I will be needed to know h(n). Hd represents desired filter, Hi represents designed filter. G(w) = weighting function.
