How to connect simulink with arduino?

we have program to count the no: of cars using simulink and also have the program to control the traffic light.The problem is that how to pass the count in the first program to control the traffic light and drive the arduino in external mode

Looks like Stateflow logic will work perfectly for this example. If not, you can try doing triggered subsystems to pass the control from one to another. http://www.mathworks.com/help/simulink/examples/triggered-subsystems.html
