Is there a way to get features of finger-vein image?

Can you help me in finding features for finger vein image .I am a master student and I got confused of all the high-level papers and surveys which include not explained functions and terms. I demonstrate vein image and How can I extract features? which methods can I use for example SIFT,HOG or other methods?.Can I use geometric attributes or statistical attributes? We're not going to know anymore about this very specialized field than the people who published the papers. I suggest you contact them - they might be flattered that you're showing an interest in their work. Alternatively ask your professor to help you understand the papers.
